Creative Director
Creative Director: FHM
FHM is looking for a creative, motivated and dynamic individual to manage all creative and design aspects of the multiplatform FHM media brand. The person occupying this position is specifically responsible for creating, overseeing and enabling a variety of cross-platform branded magazine and digital content, campaigns and other forms of content, targeted at FHM’s fans and, in certain instances, the advertising trade. The overall creative direction of the printed FHM magazine and all its various brand extensions will be the number-one priority for the person in this position.Qualifications and experience
* A design degree or diploma* At least five years’ experience as a creative director, art director or senior designer in print and digital media
Skills
* Top-level, multi-disciplinary design experience
* Insight into current design and media trends
* Hard-working and prepared to work after hours whenever required
* Strategic media-brand awareness
* Experience in managing a design team
* Extensive experience and knowledge of design tools such as Adobe CS5, AIR and PDF Publisher
The FHM Creative Director is responsible for the following aspects:
FHM cross-platform content creative direction, content creation and designThe FHM creative director has overall responsibility for all creative and design aspects of the multiplatform FHM media brand.
FHM’s creative director is part of the FHM core senior editorial team and therefore the person in this position reports to and works closely with FHM’s editor. In addition, specifically regarding marketing elements, close liaison with UCM’s chief operating officer is required for all FHM creative elements that touch on marketing.
The FHM creative director will also need to conceptualise, commission, create and oversee various commercially relevant FHM Promotions and other advertising sales materials, including marketing mock-ups for sales pitches to clients and potential clients.
Creative conceptualisation and execution of shoots, specifically model shoots
Due to the importance of FHM photographic and video shoot content, including FHM model content for all FHM’s platforms, the FHM creative director is responsible for the on-brand creative conceptualisation and execution of all FHM shoots, including FHM model shoots. This includes storyboarding of all photographic and video shoots and overall creative direction for these, including consultation with the editor of FHM, and when required, the chief operating officer of UCM. As the FHM creative director is responsible for the on-brand creative direction for all elements of the FHM media brand, this job element includes FHM creative content on all platforms, including but not limited to print, digital and television.
Digital creative direction, overseeing and creative development for various platforms, including Apple iPad
The media landscape today dictates the creation of the FHM media brand across various print, digital, television and other platforms. It is therefore the person in this position’s responsibility to ensure the on-brand creative direction for FHM across platforms, including digital platforms.
In addition, the person in this position takes overall responsibility for the creative direction and development of FHM on Apple iPad and other such formats. In this regard the person in this position works closely with all other relevant departments, including publishing, editorial and digital development and enabling.
